What
do you think the role of PC should be on campus? How does
it measure up?
I
would love to see the PC assess the needs of students and
fulfill them. Currently PC is stuck in the rut of programming
the same events every year. Some programs went off spectacularly,
and some events had low attendance. PC needs to step back
and ask, Do students want this event?
How
will you create a cohesive unit within the PC to better serve
the student body?
Ideally,
the Programming Council should be a representative body of
TCUs campus. Unfortunately it isnt like this.
In the past PC has consisted of a small group that doesnt
have a lot of outside influence. We need to recruit from a
variety of groups for members. By motivating, leading and
inspiring I can help make this change.
What
experience do you have that qualifies you for the position
you seek?
In
the past two weeks, a lot of talk has been thrown around about
the number of semesters here and active involvement there.
While my two semesters of experience on PC are important,
it is my ability to motivate and inspire that PC seeks right
now. These two characteristics cannot be taught.
What
are your specific goals if you are elected?
Communication
between the Programming Council and students is most needed.
It can be achieved by regular speaking tours, like SGA has
done, and by pulling members from the wide variety of students
that TCU has. Surveys are an excellent way to find out information,
but let us not forget word of mouth.
How
will you make the PC more visible to students and encourage
their participation?
Recently
the Programming Council by-laws were rewritten. The idea of
starting with by-laws is excellent, but there needs to be
more than written change. Ask fellow students what needs to
change. The answers will not be positive. As Vice President
of PC I will start with encouragement, motivation, and enthusiasm.
