A
guide to local bars
For all those of you who are turning
21 after the break or who are already 21, heres
your guide to TCUs local bars.
The Aardvark
2905 West Berry Street
(817) 926-7814
THE ATMOSPHERE: Loud music, younger crowd (the only
local bar that lets in those under 21), dancing.
THE HIGHS: The Aardvark is the place to go for live
music. Alligator Dave is a regular on the guest list,
and respected bands (Reel Big Fish) have played there
before they found fame.
THE LOWS: On big nights, the Aardvark has the tendency
to get just a smidge crowded. Okay, so crowded you cant
move and so smoky that when you wake up the next morning,
you wonder how you are still breathing.
Scooners
3051 S. University
(817) 924-6700
THE ATMOSPHERE: Live bands, lots of drinking, and a
fairly lackadaisical attitude.
THE HIGHS: Free the Leaf. Easy to get a drink.
THE LOWS: Cooler in its prime three years ago.
The Moon
2911 W Berry
(817) 926-9600
THE ATMOSPHERE: Ummm ...
THE HIGHS: Lots of fun when a large group accumulates.
THE LOWS: Definitely not the most popular of the local
bars as there is often a shortage of, well, people.
Fat Harrys Daiquiris & Tavern
3013 S. University Dr.
(817) 923-6000
THE ATMOSPHERE: Younger college students and people
who have been going there since their own younger days.
Light-hearted pool-playing and lots of sitting around
on tables.
THE
HIGHS: The Orange-blizzed.
THE LOWS: The younger crowd.
The Cellar
2916 W Berry St.
(817) 920-0097
THE ATMOSPHERE: Mostly underground, upstairs has pool
and air hockey tables, generally older crowd (not older
as in senior citizens, older as in college seniors).
THE HIGHS: $1.50 happy-hour Shiners.
THE LOWS: Short ceiling makes for a hot little bar.
The Pub
3019 S University Dr.
(817) 921-3332
THE
ATMOSPHERE: Chill, many regulars, ability
to sit, several separate rooms for whatever mood you
may be in.
THE HIGHS: Regulars get special treatment.
THE LOWS: Regulars get special treatment.
