TCU place-kicker Nick Browne has been selected as the
Conference USA Special Teams Player of the Week for
the week of Nov. 15, the conference office announced
Monday.
Browne earns the leagues Special Teams Player
of the Week honors for a Conference USA-record fifth
time in one season and for the ninth time in his career.
He earned this weeks award after accounting for
a school-record 19 points by a kicker in TCUs
43-10 win over Cincinnati. He tied the school and conference
marks by converting all five of his field goal attempts.
He was successful from 23, 45, 22, 35 and 34 yards out.
He also made all four of his extra point attempts.
For the season, Browne has hit on 23-of-26 field goal
attempts, including 18 of his last 19 tries, is six-of-seven
from beyond 40 yards, and has been successful on all
32 of his extra point opportunities. He is tied for
the nation's lead with an average of 2.30 field goals
made per game and is eighth in the country in scoring,
averaging 10.10 points per game.
Browne and the rest of the nationally-ranked and undefeated
Horned Frogs will be in action again on Thursday, when
they travel to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to take on the
Southern Miss Golden Eagles in a game that will decide
the Conference USA title. The game will be televised
by ESPN with Mike Tirico, Kirk Herbstreit and Lee Corso
describing the action.
