Tribute to military at Saturday’s game.

Several events paying tribute to those who either have served or will serve in the military defending our nation will highlight the TCU-Army football game Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6:05 p.m. at Amon Carter Stadium.

During pregame ceremonies, TCU will pay special tribute to one of its own, U.S. Army Capt. Tristan Neil Aitken, a 1995 TCU and Army ROTC distinguished military graduate, who was killed April 4 of this year while serving in Iraq.

Halftime festivities will honor three generations of the U.S. Army. Soldiers from Fort Sill, Okla. and Fort Hood who recently returned from Iraq will be present and recognized on the field. A special tribute will be made to Korean War Veterans and Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient Col. James Stone. Stone was awarded the Medal of Honor for courageous actions against overwhelming odds while fighting in Korea. 150 Army recruits from all over the Metroplex will also take the Oath of Enlistment into the U.S. Army on the field at halftime.

Ron Young, from the 1st Calvary Division in Fort Hood, who was held as a prisoner of war during Operation Iraqi Freedom, will be also in attendance Saturday.
