Frogs
try to keep up winning streak

Although the volleyball team is off to its best start
in program history as it makes its home debut today,
head coach Prentice Lewis said the best is yet to come.
If were peaking now were in trouble,
Lewis said. Were doing well, but we want
to be peaking when we start our conference play.
Lewis said the teams success so far can be attributed
to the Frogs work ethic and their more offensive
style.
After a season opening loss to Middle Tennessee State
at the College of Charleston Invitational, the Frogs
rebounded by winning the next six straight matches for
the first time in history.
The Frogs finished second in the Charleston Invitational
but claimed first place at the North Carolina State
tournament last weekend. In each of the Frogs
first two tournaments, juniors Ellen Rehme and Dominika
Szabo earned All-Tournament team honors for their performances.
Rehme leads the team with 115 kills, followed by Szabo
with 93. Together, the duo accounts for half of the
teams total kills a game.
Lewis said Rehme and Szabo are the offensive leaders,
but senior setter Tori Barlow holds the team together.
She said having a leader like Barlow helps the younger
players like freshman Emily Allen and sophomore Erin
Estep.
In volleyball, your setter is like the quarterback
in football; shes the team leader, she (Barlow)
provides great team leadership for us, Lewis said.
Lewis said there are still many aspects of the game
the team needs to work on, but she is excited to be
playing at home for the first time in TCUs new
facility. The Frogs used to play in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum
but have made the move this year to their new home in
the University Recreation Center.
Its going to be fantastic playing at home,
Lewis said. Its the first time we get to
showcase the facility, and our team; weve never
really had any home court advantage before.
The Frogs are hosting the TCU Adidas Invitational this
weekend and will play three matches at home. The Frogs
will look to increase their six game winning streak
starting tonight at 7 p.m. against Texas Pan-American.
Saturday TCU will face the University of Arkansas at
Pine Bluff at 1 p.m. and Arkansas State at 7:30 p.m.
