Teams finish first, third at C-USA Championships
With 906 points, the men’s swimming and diving team won the Conference USA Men’s Invitational title. The women’s swimming and diving team finished third at the C-USA Championships for the second year in a row.

Sophomore Craig Chapman swept the meet’s backstroke events Tuesday, as he took the 200 back in 1:45.56, breaking his own school record of 1:46.99. Chapman also won the 100-yard backstroke Feb. 24.

The Frogs’ 906 points were 182.5 more points than second-place East Carolina.

The women’s team closed out its domination of the backstroke events with sophomores Aimee Moreau and Tiffany Strawn placing one-two in the 200 back. Moreau won her second league title in 2:01.67, while Strawn placed second in 2:03.71.

Junior Erin Irons also won her second individual championship and third overall title.

Team loses final road game against Houston
The men’s basketball team lost its final road game of the season Saturday against Houston 75-57. Andre Owens scored 22 points and Jeremee McGuire and Louis Truscott both had double-doubles for Houston.

Houston (8-17, 6-8 Conference USA) dominated inside, outscoring TCU 44-28 in the paint.

The Frogs (8-19, 2-13) were led by Senior Junior Blount, who scored 22 points. Senior Jamal Brown added 10 points.

Men’s track, field team take fourth at Indoors

Despite posting six victories Saturday, the men’s team fell short in its bid for a fourth consecutive indoor conference title as the Conference USA Indoor Track & Field Championships came to a close Saturday. While the men took runner-up honors behind Houston, the women’s team posted a third place finish, its highest ever.

The men were paced by C-USA Indoor Track & Field Athlete of the Year sophomore Jackson Langat who took the gold medal in both the mile and the 800 meters. The men also had winning performances from Brandal Lawrence in the triple jump; Reggie Harrell, with an NCAA provisional mark in the 60 meter high hurdles; Brandon Simpson in the 400 and the 4x400 meter relay team.
