Texas' best men's tennis singles players met up at the River Oaks Clay Courts showcase in Houston this past weekend. TCU's Esteban Carril only lost one set in four matches to emerge as the champion. The junior beat University of Texas' Michael Blue in a three set final, 7-5, 3-6, 6-2. Carril made quick work of Texas Tech's Ryan Shupe and Texas' Nic Crowell before forcing Southern Methodist's Toby Hansson into an early default in the semifinal round. Carril came into the tournament as the showcases' No. 1 seed and the nation's No. 4 ranked player in the nation.
