Trofholz
second-team Preseason All-American
Frog senior outfielder Terry Trofholz has been named
a second-team preseason All-American by the National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
The senior, who set the C-USA record for batting average
last year (.441), earned second-team postseason all-America
from the NCBWA, Baseball Weekly and the American Baseball
Coaches Association last season. He also collected first-team
all-conference honors and was named Metroplex Player
of the Year by the Society for American Baseball Research.
He rounded out his list of 2002 honors with a spot on
the Easton/Redline All-Defensive Team.
In addition to setting the C-USA batting record, Trofholz
also tied the TCU record for hits in a season with 94.
His .441 average ranked seventh nationally in 2002 and
was the second highest mark in TCU history. Trofholz
posted a 21-game hitting streak and led the Frogs with
22 stolen bases and eight outfield assists last season.
