The TCU volleyball team (11-16, 3-8 Conference USA) travels down Tobacco Road to face East Carolina and Charlotte to conclude the regular season.

Although the Frogs have clinched a spot in the C-USA tournament, the outcome of this weekend’s matches will determine their seeding.

East Carolina enters play this weekend with a 0-11 conference record, but the Frogs say they are not overlooking the Lady Pirates.

Head coach Prentice Lewis still expects a good match.

“East Carolina is a team that can battle with us play by play, and I expect them to come out relentless and wanting to win their last 2 matches” Lewis said.

East Carolina’s Sarah Vick is C-USA’s ace leader with 56, and adds 2.66 kills per game. Johanna Bertini paces the Lady Pirates in digs with 2.73 per game.

The 49ers enter with an even .500 record on the year and 5-6 in conference play, good for eighth place heading into the weekend.

Courtney Burg leads Charlotte in kills with 386 for the year and Lisa Newell enters with 94 blocks on the year and 46 aces, good for third in conference.

Although the Frogs have already punched their postseason ticket, they are quick to point out that this weekend still looms large.

Freshman outside hitter Julie Van’t Wout says the team can use this weekend to get better.

“It’s a relief knowing we don’t have to win, but we can use them as practice to get further into the tournament instead of to just get in the tournament” Van’t Wout said.

Freshman outside hitter Hayley Harmon knows the Frogs have a chance to move up with a sweep this weekend.

“Just knowing we’re playing two teams that we can beat, and if we can capitalize on that it will be great,” Harmon said. “It won’t give us any room to slack. It will give us a chance to build our confidence.”
