The full parking lots of University Christian Church
and the chiming of six bells marked the beginning of
the memorial service Monday for Ralph Ewing Glenn, a
TCU and a Brite Divinity School board of trustee member.
The Rev. Glenn died Thursday in Parker County. He was
61.
Glenn also served as president for the Christian Church
(Disciples of Christ) in the Southwest region and was
beginning his sixth year as southwest regional minister,
leading an estimated 450 churches in Texas, New Mexico
and parts of Oklahoma and Kansas.
Kay Higgins, director of new student programs and chairwoman
of the elders at the University Christian Church, said
Glenn was a fabulous person who met everyone with a
smile and a handshake.
(The) Rev. Glenn lived his faith in everything
he did, Higgins said. He had a wonderful
sense of humor and a love for life.
During his career he served as the associate minister
of the Central Christian Church in Austin, vice president
for development, executive assistant to the president
of Phillips University in Oklahoma and interim associate
minister of the Hillsdale Christian Church in Kansas
City.
Duane Cummins, interim president of the Brite Divinity
School and Glenns friend for 30 years, described
him as having a great pastoral heart. Cummins said he
first met Glenn when he was an administrator at Phillips
University.
He will be missed as a trustee, a minister and
a friend, said Cummins.
The Tarrant County medical examiner has not made a formal
ruling on the cause of death.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Peggy; children, Heather
Junker and Clayton Glenn; and grandchildren, Wesley
Junker and Rowan Glenn.
