Fort Worth police Thursday were searching for a man
they say sexually assaulted a TCU student off campus.
The man, who had visited the victims residence
earlier with his girlfriend, came back to the apartment
saying he had left his cell phone, according to a campus-wide
e-mail TCU police detective Kelly Ham sent Thursday
afternoon. He then sexually assaulted the victim around
2 a.m. Thursday, a Fort Worth police spokesman said.
Ham confirmed the victim was a student, but he would
not disclose an address for privacy reasons. He did
say the victims residence is south of TCU.
We dont want them victimized again,
he said.
Ham said police have good information on a suspect,
but would not reveal his identity.
There is no indication at this time that shows
the suspect is a student or in any way related to TCU,
Ham said.
Ham said TCU police were trying to educate students
on how to protect themselves from a possible assault.
In his e-mail, Ham stated that students should avoid
walking and jogging alone, call for an escort, or enter
residence halls if anything seems suspicious.
He also recommended leaving lights on inside and outside
of dwellings, locking all doors and windows, looking
in the back seat before entering cars and having keys
ready before unlocking vehicles.
