Criminal charges against womens basketball player
Tiffany Evans for fraudulent use of identifying information
were dismissed Aug. 30, according to the Tarrant County
District Attorneys office.
Evans was officially reinstated to basketball team workouts
this semester, said Drew Harris, associate director
of athletic media relations.
Harris said Evans is allowed to practice with the team
because she complied with the standards set by the team
and university. He said the standards for Evans
reinstatement cannot be released due to university policy.
According to earlier Skiff reports, Evans was suspended
from team workouts in response to the warrant issued
for her arrest in connection with identity fraud.
The police report states Evans admitted to using former
teammate and roommate, Kati Safaritovas credit
cards.
According to the police report, Safaritova informed
the police that a check was missing from her checkbook
without her knowledge.
The report also stated that according to a bank statement,
the check had been written to the Albertsons on
Hulen for $118.88.
Safaritova informed police that her MasterCard statement
had unauthorized charges to pay off phone and television
bills, according to earlier Skiff reports.
Safaritova decided to press charges against Evans March
19.
Evans declined to comment, saying she needed permission
from womens basketball head coach Jeff Mittie.
Mittie did not return several phone calls.
