Staff
Assembly meets to discuss goals for the upcoming academic
year
Staff Assembly members discussed wages, compensation,
parking and daycare at their annual goal-setting session
Tuesday at the Dee J. Kelly Alumni and Visitors Center.
Members dividedinto committees and collectively came
up with goals for the upcoming academic year.
Increasing compensation and raising the living wage
were the main themes expressed by members. Other areas
of concern include the implementation of daycare services
on campus and parking problems.
Executive committee members collected suggestions from
the committee chairmen and chairwomen and will review
them at the executive committee meeting Sept. 17. Conclusions
will be discussed at the October Staff Assembly meeting.
Wages are always a primary concern, said
Karen Baker, Staff Assembly chairwoman. TCU has
made great strides in addressing salary issues.Last
year, the base wage was increased for the second time
in three years. During that time it has increased from
$5.73 an hour to $8, a 39.6 percent increase.
People who work shouldnt live in poverty,
said Tara Pope, Staff Assembly secretary. I would
like to see the Staff Assembly continue the good work
theyve started toward this goal.
