a one-day program at the Student Center parking lot Tuesday.

Students
and staff can renew their drivers license and identification
cards Tuesday instead of waiting in long lines at the
Department of Public Safety office. Those interested can
go by the DPS Drivers License Express bus from 10
a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Center visitor parking
lot.
The DPS Drivers License Express bus will also provide
first-time applications for ID cards, duplicate drivers
license and id cards. Out-of-state licensees may also
be transferred for a Texas license.
The program will provide services and renewals not requiring
a medical examination.
Students and staff wont have to travel all
the way to Jacksboro highway or elsewhere, said
Sgt. JC Drake of the TCU police. It will also help
remind students if they have any drivers license
issues that need to get taken care of.
Some students who have an out-of-state license express
interest in changing over to a Texas license. Johanna
Cary, a junior business major, said the validity of her
Missouri license has been questioned. Changing over to
a Texas license would be more convenient, she said.
Ive had my Colorado license questioned before
so getting a Texas one would just be easier, said
Haely White, a junior radio-TV-film major.
The TCU police department is heading the event for the
first time and a large turn out is expected, said Drake
who sent a mass e-mail to students and staff Tuesday.
The DPS office of Safety Education could not be reached
for comment.
This is convenient because the event is open to
all faculty, staff and students on-campus, Drake
said. I have heard people express interest so it
will probably bring in lots of people.
The renewal fee for a driver license is $24 and ID renewal
is $15, duplicate driver license or ID card fee is $10.
Cash or personal check are accepted.
