Recruiting
class shows promise for players, head coach
TCUs new
head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle has his team headed in the right
direction.
His first recruiting class consisted of 13 players and was ranked
No. 9 in the country, according to Baseball America. The 13 players
will join the team in the fall of 2004.
Three recruits are transferring to TCU, and all but one of the 13
recruits are from Texas. The new fall class features five of the top
25 players, according to Texas Baseball News.
Obviously, this is a great start to our first recruiting class
and its nice to be recognized on a national scale, Schlossnagle
said. Coach Whitting has done an outstanding job, along with
the rest of the staff, of showcasing our great university. We, however,
have more work to do and look forward to the spring recruiting period
as well.
Among the 13 recruits are Sam Demel, of Spring; Yovanni Gallardo,
of Fort Worth; Matt Carpenter, of Sugar Land. They are ranked 11,
13 and 18 in Texas Baseball News top prospects.
We are very excited about this fall class, Schlossnagle
said. We have numerous needs to fill and this class is a huge
step in the direction of becoming a nationally prominent program.
